What is Batting for Betty?
Batting for Betty began as a grassroots effort between friends and has blossomed into a great event. Inspiration to fundraise for Susan G. Komen came back in 2010 because of New Kids on the Block member Danny Wood. His mother Betty lost her fight & he carries her memory on through fundraising efforts and his ‘Remember Betty’ foundation.
Without a cure, 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. women. More then 1 in 4 cases of cancer are Breast Cancer. Over the next 25 years, an estimated 5 million Americans will be diagnosed with breast cancer & more than 1 million could die. This is the sobering portrait of breast cancer in our country that drives Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to fight every minute of every day, to save every life.
Through Batting for Betty we can help strikeout breast cancer and save second base! ;-)
